Bruce Edward Babbitt (b. 1938) was Arizona Attorney General 1975-78 + Governor 1978-1987. Ran briefly for 1988 Dem presidential nomination. Clinton Interior Secretary 1993-2001 — designated 21 new National Monuments, the most by any Interior Sec since FDR. Co-author of significant federal-state water-rights settlements; advocate of grazing-fee reform. Brother of Paul Babbitt + son of John Babbitt (Flagstaff banking family).
