Background
Don Siegelman (b. 1946) is the only Alabama politician to hold all 4 statewide constitutional offices: SoS 1979-87, AG 1987-91, Lt Gov 1995-99, Gov 1999-2003. Convicted 2006 of bribery + obstruction in a federal prosecution that 113 former state attorneys general (including 47 Republican) called politically motivated; served 5+ years in federal prison. Released 2017. Subject of multiple 60 Minutes segments + the documentary "Atticus v. The Architect." Argues he was prosecuted by Karl Rove allies in retaliation for his pro-Dem activism.
