Joseph Manchin III (b. 1947) was WV State Senator 1986-96 + SoS 2001-05 + Governor 2005-2010 + U.S. Senator 2010-2024 (resigned R+I caucus, switched to I 2024). Single most pivotal vote of the Biden Administration: blocked Build Back Better Dec 2021; engineered Inflation Reduction Act Aug 2022; opposed many Dem priorities. Did not seek reelection 2024. Daughter Heather Bresch was Mylan Pharmaceuticals CEO during the EpiPen pricing scandal.
